New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs broke his silence after being charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery in Massachusetts. Diggs’ attorney David Meier told E! News that the NFL star strongly denied the allegations, calling them “unsubstantiated and uncorroborated” claims stemming from a financial dispute with an employee. The Patriots spoke out about Diggs’ accusations, telling NBC Sports the team supports him and will cooperate fully with authorities and the NFL as the investigation continues. According to CBS Boston, the charges relate to an alleged incident on Dec. 2. During a virtual court appearance on Dec. 30, Diggs’ lawyer reportedly requested the police report be sealed and asked to delay his arraignment until March—after the Super Bowl.
